A 1,300 km cycle path network starts right in front of your doorstep and provides the perfect prerequisites for a varied bike and mountain bike holiday in the Kaprun region. The diversity ranges from comfortable tours with the whole family in the sunny valley basin of the Salzach through to demanding day tours with tricky trails for professionals.
And because cycling, movement and fresh air make you thirsty and hungry, many rustic snack bars and mountain pastures invite you to stop and enjoy regional delicacies and refreshing drinks. Furthermore, the famous Tauern cycle path takes you through the region and reaches the Krimmler Waterfalls, which always represent a popular excursion destination.
There are 16 km of interesting freeride trails available at Kitzsteinhorn for all fit bikers that want to test their limits. Specially, the routes listed in the following require both skills and endurance:
- Gaißstein-Trail, 3,144 m lang, long, rest point: Häuslalm
- Bachler-Trail, all bikers are really challenged cycling at an altitude of 5,200 m
- Wüstlau-Trail, with a length of 7,700 m, this trail is not just extremely long, but extremely demanding
